  1. "'rouge'-like Powder"

can't tell if poor copy editing or awesome punning.

  2. The quotes might be a hint.

However that's the reason Powder is called Powder, so no originality there.

  3. I struggled at Powder until I listened to Jeff talk about his game this episode. While listening I made it to the 14th floor before dying, and I won the very next game.

The risk of not knowing what an item is, is greater than the risk of trying it out. Fortune favours the bold. Don't wait on identify scrolls; I found 3 in my whole ascension run, first one at floor 7-8, and no divination books at all.

Don't pick fights with early- and mid-game poisonous critters. Except for scorpions, they'll leave you alone if you leave them alone.

  4. Yes, I think my harsh experience boiled down to trying to kill everything on sight and scan the whole level hoarding items never to be used for the fear of them being cursed and awful. I'll retry again tonight :)
